First Quarter 2010

President's Message



Fellow members, we have embarked on a new year, with the next AGM due in a few months' time. By now you would have received a notification inviting you to renew your membership with the society. From the new workyear, we will be issuing members with a membership card so that they can be identified for member privileges and discounts that we intend to secure with partners. We are working towards issuing the cards to members at the next AGM.

The next AGM should also witness a revised format aimed at increasing member attendance and participation. We are presently working towards a seminar style presentation and dialogue sessions with members in place of presentations by the Undergraduate Research Award (URA) winners. In its place, the URA will be replaced by a poster competition, while the URA presentations will be held at a separate event later in the year.

The seminar is intended to provide members with an opportunity to engage each other professionally as well as to discuss issues related to the psychology profession in Singapore. We will also take this opportunity to share with members how we see the society moving forward for the next few years, and to solicit members inputs on these plans. Certainly we welcome any suggestions that you may have for speakers at the forthcoming AGM, or any other suggestions to improve the format of the AGM. We look forward to your participation in the society in the new year and best wishes for 2010 as well.
